Setup
- Start in a high plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders and fingers spread wide.
- Engage your core and glutes to create a straight line from your head to your heels.
- Set your feet hip-width apart, balancing on the balls of your feet.
How to do it
- Slowly draw one knee toward your chest as far as possible without rounding your lower back.
- Exhale during the knee drive and pause for a second to maximize the abdominal contraction.
- Inhale as you slowly step the foot back to the starting plank position.
- Repeat the movement with the opposite leg, maintaining a controlled walking tempo.
Form checklist
- Keep your hips level with your shoulders; avoid piking your glutes into the air.
- Maintain a strong push through the floor to keep your shoulder blades from collapsing.
- Keep your neck neutral by looking at a spot on the floor about 6 inches in front of your hands.
- Ensure your weight remains centered and does not shift excessively from side to side.
Pro tips
- Focus on pulling your belly button toward your spine throughout the entire set to protect your lower back.
- Drive through the heel of the stationary leg to keep the glutes and quads fully engaged for stability.
Make it harder
- Slow the tempo down further, taking 3 seconds to bring the knee in and 3 seconds to return.
- Bring the knee toward the opposite elbow to increase oblique activation.
